4 out of 10 Romanians believe that snap elections would be the best solution to the crisis – INSCOP
Four out of ten Romanians believe that organizing early parliamentary elections would be the best solution for overcoming the current political crisis.
Additionally, just over 50% opt for a new government, as reported by the Informat.ro – INSCOP Research barometer.
Regarding the new government, 65.6% of respondents believe it should continue the pro-European and pro-Western direction.
"At this moment, there is no critical majority in favor of early elections, with only 41% considering that the best solution to overcome the political crisis is to organize early elections. The vast majority of PNL, PSD, and USR voters oppose early elections, while AUR voters support early elections as a way out of the crisis," said Remus Ștefureac, director of INSCOP Research.
Solutions for overcoming the political crisis
50.7% of survey participants believe that the best solution for overcoming the current political crisis is the formation of a new government around the parties represented in Parliament.
On the other hand, 41.3% think that early parliamentary elections should be organized. The non-response rate is 8%.
I believe that the best solution for overcoming the current political crisis is the formation of a new government around the parties represented in Parliament to a greater extent than the average:
- PSD, PNL, and USR voters
- individuals over 60 years old
- those with higher education
- urban residents
AUR voters, men, individuals aged 45 to 59, and private sector employees consider in a higher proportion than the rest of the population that the best solution would be to organize early parliamentary elections.
Direction of the future government
65.6% of respondents believe that the future government should continue the pro-European and pro-Western direction, while 26.2% hold the opposite view. The non-response rate is 8.2%.
I am of the opinion that the future government should continue the pro-European and pro-Western direction to a greater extent than the rest of the population: PSD, PNL, and USR voters, individuals over 60 years old, those with higher education, residents of Bucharest.
AUR voters and individuals with primary education believe to a significantly higher extent than other socio-demographic categories that the future government should not continue in the pro-European and pro-Western direction.
The data was collected between May 11-14, 2026. Research method: questionnaire-based interviews.
The data was collected through the CATI method (telephone interviews), with a simple random sample volume of 1100 individuals, representative of significant socio-demographic categories (gender, age, occupation) for the non-institutionalized population of Romania aged 18 and over. The maximum acceptable data error is ± 3%, with a confidence level of 95%.
